- Reliance Jio was launched with the FREE welcome offer for three months.
- The customers have also received FREE unlimited data along with access to all Jio services.
- The offer was supposed to end on December 31st but it may extend till March 2017.
Since the time Jio launched its ‘hard to believe’ tariff schemes, and unlimited free plans til December 31st, people have been facing some issues with it as well. The key problem consumers are facing is the uneven Call Dropping. It is occurring on constant basis and is now becoming a major reason for customers to not opt for Jio.
The reason for this is due to the low number of POI’s being offered to Jio calls by other major service providers, that is, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. POI is the Point of Interesections between calls made from a Jio sim to any other network. Now due to the low number of POI’s these telecom giants are offereing Jio, it becomes harder for any call made From a Jio sim to last longer or sustain adequate voice quality. Chairman, Mukesh Ambani phrases it as, “The newbie being ragged by the big boys.”
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), has just given a go ahead to Jio’s ‘free-calls-for-life’ plan but has also stated that Jio’s welcome offer had to end on December 3rd, 2016.
According to Jio Spokesperson,
“Benefits from free unlimited voice and data usage will be available till 31st December, 2016. But Jio welcome offer will be available to new consumers for subscription till 3rd December, 2016.”
During the launch event, it was clearly written on tariff offers, “Reliance Jio reserves the right to amend/extend the special benefits for existing customers beyond 31st December, 2016. In case they are not able to get adequate experience of seamless connectivity across networks due to limited interconnects”.
To sum up, Reliance Jio is struggling with its services till they get adequate number of interconnects, for which they are in talks with the TRAI. And till the time this is not done customers will continue to face problems with the connectivity and till that happens, Jio will not apply any charges to the kind of service they are providing, because that would just be unfair on the consumers and harmful for Jio as well. Analysts are now suggesting that Jio Welcome Offer (JWO) will extend its offer until March 2017, an additional three months. Well, that’s a cool idea, let’s hope for the best!
We are still waiting for some official announcements, though, but this is what is hypothesised and is being foretold to happen, and if Jio really extends the Welcome Offer, it might just have a chance to compete with the big boys.
