With the launch of Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, Google has bought its expensive flagship smartphones in the slightly affordable mid-range segment. They were announced at Google I/O conference held at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. The Google Pixel 3a costs Rs. 39,999,and the Pixel 3a XL costs Rs. 44,999. Both these will be available for purchase on Flipkart from 15th May and registrations have already begun.
Pixel 3a and 3a XL will be available in the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variants. Although they are launched in 3 colors, only Clearly White and Just Black variants shall be available in India. You get a free 3-month YouTube Music Premium subscription upon activating the smartphone before 30th September.The Pixel 3a sports a 5.6-inch FHD display and Pixel 3a XL sports a 6-inch FHD display. You get 16 million colors with Dragon Trail glass protection. Snapdragon 670 SoC powers both phones and they run on Android 9.0 OS.While the Pixel 3 phones have a glass body, the 3a phones have a polycarbonate unibody design.
Speaking about the cameras, both 3a and 3a XL have a rear 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The front camera is 8MP with f/2.0 aperture. Google has packed features like the Night Sight low-light photography, HDR+, Portrait Mode, Super Res Zoom, Top Shot, 120fps recording at several resolutions including 4k.
Google has retained the Titan M security chip but removed the Pixel hardware – Pixel Visual Core. Google has retained the 3.5mm audio jack and the Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor on the back panel. The Google Pixel 3a has 3000mAh battery while the Pixel 3a XL has 3700mAh battery. Both allow fast charging and deliver 30 hours on a full charge. With Google Pixel Active Edge you can squeeze the sides to launch the Google assistant. Google will also offer updates for 3 years.
